Her books
Forty-nine books in twenty-one years.
Holocaust history, biography, books written for teenagers who needed straight answers, and guides to the Colorado and Arizona she had made her home.
She published her first book in 1978 and her last in 1999, the year after she died. What follows is every title we have been able to confirm, grouped by subject. Reissues, rebindings and translations are folded into the original entry rather than counted twice.
A few titles carry dates after 1998. Those are either books she finished before her death that reached print afterwards, or later reissues of earlier work.

Still in print
Parallel Journeys is the one that lasted.
The braided story of Helen Waterford, who survived Auschwitz, and Alfons Heck, who rose through the Hitler Youth. It won the Christopher Award and was named an ALA Best Book for Young Adults, and it is the only one of her books still carried by its publisher.
This list was assembled from library and publisher catalogue records. If you know of a title we have missed, or spot something wrong, please write to us — we would be glad to correct it.
